Help, Help, Me Rhonda.... Giveaway

Girls, what do you do when you have so much to do and don't know where to start?  Especially with a project that is less on the creative end.  I have a quilt that I am repairing for a friend that belonged to her grandmother, made with all types of fabric imaginable, and the large squares are from a white sheet.  The high thread count of the sheeting makes it very hard to remove the damaged pieces next to them.

I have a darling Sweet Baby Jane doll quilt that I recently finished.  I will give it away on Friday, Jan 22 to a randomly picked comment.  I need help out of my slump - thanks all!

  1. So it sounds as though you are having to remove the sheet from the other fabrics? This will be a tedious job if so...my suggestion is work on this when you are just relaxing with an old movie or music. Don't work on this when you want to be real productive with your pedal to the medal of a machine otherwise it will become so frustrating (I know and speak from experience here)

  2. I had a similar experience, of repairing a quilt for a friend, her Grandmother had made a large Star quilt, which had many patches that had worn thin. She had me just patch over them, with as-close-to-matching fabrics. It was a tedious job, as there were alot of patches to replace. I kept trying to think about what it was like to be the Grandmother, making the quilt. What she was thinking while putting it together, what could have been going on in her life (and in the world!) at the time it was made. Made the work go alot faster for me. And I was glad to feel like I had somehow extended the life of a family heirloom... Hope that helps some! :o)

  3. I was thinking pretty much the same thing--take some time off to "ponder and dream". Go for a walk, take a drive, go shopping.

  4. I have repaired a quilt before, and it is very difficult...much more difficult than making a quilt from scratch.
Good luck with it, and do it a bit at a time!

  5. My DH has a quilt his mom made & it needs repair. I won't touch until I have a few more quilts under my belt. Good luck with your friend's quilt.

  6. I think it is difficult to repair old quilts. We have one that's in need of repair, but I am afraid to tackle it as it is pretty old. Just take your time, and work on it slowly.

  7. How kind of you to help out a friend. I have an old quilt which I got at a thrift shop, and it too needs some repair, but I keep putting it off until I'm sure what to do with it.
I love your doll quilt and would love to win it. 22nd is my daughter's birthday:-)
